Songs Without Words is finished, and I am now preparing the score and parts for publication and the consortium who commissioned it.

I am still expecting to conduct the premiere in Nevada next March, but I have decided to cancel my planned trip to Chicago and the midwest convention this December. It is more than likely that it will be poorly attended for obvious reasons. I will put it off until 2002 when hopefully people are more confident about air travel. Also Southern Music will have more of my titles to present by then.

Another band commission seems likely for next year, this time a little tuneful piece called "Promenade", which will make a change after the bigger stuff I have been writing. The scoring will definitely be aimed at high school level, and should be very accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of ensembles.
